Restaurant Fun: No. 9 Park
Welcome to Restaurant Fun number 2! Jordan and I LOVE food; we love good restaurants with creative dining. When in Boston last March we went to a couple of great James Beard award winning restaurants and No. 9 Park was my favorite.
Lemon Meringue Tart (my favorite dish of the night)
We completed a Chef’s Tasting Menu of Maine Sea Urchin, Swordfish, Agnolotti Di Vitello, Prune-Stuffed Gnocchi, Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras, Pork Belly, Venison and Lemon Meringue Tart. Can we say DELICIOUS?! The staff even recognized how into food we were and brought us a complementary second dessert of chocolate cake.

In addition to the delicious courses were bonus bites. They served us tea with vanilla madalines to cleanse our palets and jasmine macaroons and earl gray caramels to finish the meal. Fantastic touches!

In addition to the fantastic food we participated in the wine pairings. We have NV Paul Chollet Cremant de Bourgagne Brut, 2012 Robert Sinskey Vin Gris of Pinot Noir, 2009 Nino Negri Valtellina Superiore “Quadrio”, NV Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec Champagne, 2012 Diochon Moulin-a-Vent “Vieilles Vignes”, 2011 Hirsch Pinot Noir “Storyteller’s Cuvee,” 2009 Chateau d’Or et de Gueules “LaBolida,” and 2012 Domaine de Fenouillet Muscat de Beaumes de Venise.
The best thing about No. 9 Park is the passion of the staff. Each time they bring you a course or a wine pairing they share the story of the dish with you or why the choice of the pairing was made. This is a unique experience to No. 9 Park that I have yet to see any other restaurant match.
Jordan and I both claim to love wine and are amazed by the art of the wine pairing with coursed meals like this but we definitely are lacking on our wine knowledge. I am trying to learn about wine but most importantly I am just enjoying myself when I do a Chef’s Tasting. Before I ever did one of these I was convinced that they would be pretentious and judge me but this is SO FAR FROM THE TRUTH. In my experience the people who work at these kind of restaurants do it because they are passionate about food and wine. If you share that passion they are so appreciative of you regardless of your knowledge base behind that passion.

Oh don’t get me started on food haha! Will and I absolutely love food! We actually went to Little Italy for the first time and the restaurant we went to gave us samples of wine before we ever purchased it. No. 9 Park will definitely be on our list !
