How to Get ANYTHING in Half The Time

Have you ever set a BIG goal, such as a New Year’s Resolution, and you were really excited about it at first and then it just seemed to take FOREVER with no results? Yeah, me too… The problem with these giant goals is that they don’t help you feel successful. They seem too far away, too much work, or just too hard so you give up after a few months and convince yourself that you didn’t really want it anyway. Well, let me tell you how you CAN make those BIG goals a reality and FASTER!

In occupational therapy we have something called the “Just-Right Challenge.” The Just-Right Challenge is all about doing something that is a little harder than what you are able to easily do RIGHT NOW. The Just-Right Challenge helps people not get frustrated when working on a goal and remain engaged, motivated and have an enjoyable time while working towards your goal.

This “Just-Right Challenge” is going to look different for every person and every goal, but you can start with these few tips:

  • Write down your goal
  • Write down where you are right now (What is easy for you?)
  • Break your goal down into bite sized chunks
  • Start with something that is a little bit of a stretch but you CAN DO NOW
  • Build off of your success and push yourself a little bit each time
  • CELEBRATE your success!

Tell me in the comments below what your big goal is and the first Just-Right Challenge you are embarking on to get there!
