You Deserve Love Too
Love is the closest thing to magic that we experience on a daily basis. Love affects our hormones, our mood, our health, and our mindset. Love is a beautiful thing. Often times, if we are not experiencing romantic love, then we think we are not experiencing love. However, the most important love is one you get to experience every day and at every stage of life, regardless of where you are with your romantic life.
I am talking self-love.
So, self-love might sound a little cheesy or not important to you, but believe me when I tell you it is the most important type of love there is. You have probably heard people say that no one can love you until you love yourself. I am going to modify that a bit: you will only find the love you believe you deserve as demonstrated in your self-love. Meaning as much as you love yourself is as much as you will allow others to love you. And let me tell you…
You deserve love too.
I know you give love, lots of love, so much love it hurts sometimes. So I know you have lots of love to give; why not give yourself some more of that love? Give love to yourself freely, openly, and often. As much as you admire, adore, and love others is how much you deserve to be loved by yourself and others.
So how do you do this?
Think about the person you admire and love the most. Write down everything you love about them. Write down how you express your love to them. How you think about them. How you feel when you think about them. Write down everything that comes to mind when you think about how much you love this person.
Now read back through what you wrote and read it as if it was written about you. How does it make you feel? Is it comfortable or uncomfortable to read? If it makes you uncomfortable, ask yourself: “Why?”
Let’s go a step deeper.
Now that your toe is in the self-love water, let’s go all the way. Write a list of the top ten things you love about yourself and actually write “I love…” If those ten things were easy for you to come up with, write ten more. Push yourself to go beyond your comfort zone and make your mind really work.
Challenge: I challenge you to do this activity every morning for a week and see how you feel about yourself.
