Know Yourself

Know Yourself

This is part three of the four part series on overcoming feeling like a fraud. If you missed part one check it out HERE and if you missed part two you can catch up HERE.

So, you’ve been feeling like a fraud, and you are ready for a change. In part one of this series you’ve already nailed down an area (or more) where you are feeling like a fraud and took time to dive into the why behind that feeling. If you haven’t, you can hop over to this video.

And, you’ve already been making some progress by tackling your hormones from video two. Where you learned specific strategies for decreasing stress and increasing testosterone. Have you been power posing and reducing your stress? I hope so.

That will all prepare you for the next strategy to overcome feeling like a fraud, which is knowing yourself.

Seems simple right?

Let’s start working on it then.

Bring your area of feeling like a fraud to the front of your mind. Maybe, it has to do with your career, relationships, in your family, or a specific skill or talent you have. It doesn’t matter what it is, or how many areas. Knowing yourself will be a powerful tool to overcome these feelings.

Commit to overcoming these feelings..

Knowing yourself allows you to focus on your successes and abilities, and you cannot think two opposing thoughts at once. Your brain won’t allow it. Meaning, if you are thinking about your successes you cannot simultaneously be thinking of your failures. Knowing yourself also moves you forward instead of keeping you stagnate, and stagnation breeds feelings of fraud.

So, you may be asking “how do you know yourself better?”

  • MAKE A LIST
    • List out the things that make you you.
      • Focus on the positive or neutral aspects.
    • List out things you have actually accomplished.
      • List them as facts. Do not make judgements on if they are good or bad.
    • Read back through your lists and tap into any feelings that come up when you read through them. Bring awareness to how these things make you feel.
    • Put one or both of these lists somewhere where you will see them often.
      • Maybe by your office desk, mirror, or phone background.
      • Preferably somewhere where feelings of fraud come up often.
  • ASK OTHERS
    • Ask those who know you well to tell you your top three best characteristics.
      • Contact them directly or create a survey where they can be anonymous.
      • Push yourself to get at least 15 people to respond.
      • Then, see what patterns show up in the answers people give you. You may be surprised by the top things that come up.
      • Put those top things up where you see them regularly. Again, put this up somewhere where negative feelings often come up.

ACTION:

  • Get clear on where these feelings originated from – the WHY, if you haven’t already.
  • Keep taking action on reducing your stress and increasing your testosterone.
  • And start figuring out your lists and asking your loved ones so that you can know yourself better.

The next video will go into the last strategy for overcoming feeling like a fraud – Practice
